In the A! Crafted for Action: A Fusion of Education and Fellowship at Atlanta's Premier Craft Beer

Introduction:

As I sit at Hartsfield-Jackson airport, wearing a walking boot and feeling tired yet ecstatic, I finally have a moment to catch up on messages and emails. After spending five culturally infused days in one of the nation's craft beer hubs, I couldn't resist attending this conference, despite nursing a strained Achilles heel. The experience is simply too valuable to pass up, even if it means postponing surgery. Atlanta, the captivating home of Donald Glover's amazing FX show, offers a multitude of attractions, from the Trap Museum to the allure of lemon pepper wet and fresh peaches. The city has much more to offer, and although I only scratched the surface this time, I can't wait to delve deeper.

Crafted for Action: A Conference of Vision and Adaptability:

Atlanta has been the host city for Crafted for Action three times now. This conference, conceived by Jen Price, aims to combine the excitement of fellowship with a strong focus on education. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, Jen made the brave decision to pivot and host the conference virtually in 2020. Since then, Crafted for Action has successfully blended virtual and in-person events, evolving each year to reach new heights.

The Warmth of Atlanta's Craft Beer Scene:

Year after year, Crafted for Action showcases Atlanta's warm and inviting craft beer scene, where strangers are friends and your empty glass is always promptly filled with the newest craft beer offerings. Whether brewed by local BIPOC breweries or passionate homebrewers, the taste is consistently delicious and captivating.

Atlantucky Brewery: The Heart of Crafted for Action:

From its inception, Atlantucky Brewery has been our gracious host for Crafted for Action. Owned by the Nappy Roots, this brewery exudes pure Hip Hop vibes and serves as a sanctuary for my music-loving soul. Its walls are adorned with icons from past and present musicians, creating an atmosphere that is both unique and inspiring. With its tap room areas, stage, and ability to accommodate gatherings of all sizes, Atlantucky Brewery sets the perfect backdrop for the conference.

Top 10 Reasons to Attend Crafted for Action:

2. Convenient Accommodations: Airbnb's and hotels near the host location are within walking distance.

3. Extensive Virtual Offerings: Over 20 free virtual panels and replays are available.

4. Monday Night's Garage: Explore the vibrant atmosphere while enjoying great food, beer, and liquor. You can even purchase single cans to try a variety of offerings.

5. Brews and Beats: Experience a unique collaboration between local producers who create beats inspired by the craft beer they drink.

6. Brew Day: Learn the brewing process from start to finish

7. Opportunities for Cicerone and/or Beer Judging education.

8. Unplugged: Camping in the city: Even if you're a city girl like me, you can enjoy relaxing on a hammock, savoring a cold one, and vibing out to music. Thanks to sponsor REI, the impressive campsite offers a welcoming ambiance, especially at sunset when we raise our glasses to toast another amazing day.

9. Crafted Fellows Pitch Contest: Witness the excitement as Crafted Fellows develop pitches for their organizations, competing for a micro grant. This innovative addition to the conference stemmed from the ideas discussed during our "Being Black in Craft" calls, particularly the "What'cha Want?!! Beer Panel Discussion."

10. Beer Dinner Hosted by Ale Sharpton: Discover the elegance of beer as you embark on a food and beer pairing journey. A local historian sets the stage to learn more amazing black history nationally and local Atlanta lore. I’ve yet to finish all my courses because they FEED you well.

In-person events incur cost and you can purchase a la  cart or VIP package
